Samuel Homich was one of the “Founding Fathers” of the Central Florida Soccer League. The son of Russian immigrants, Sam grew up loving the game of soccer. After finishing college, Sam enlisted in the United States Air Force; a career that took him to many different parts of the world as he served his country. Upon retirement, Sam earned the prestigious “Flying Cross for his many years of meritorious service. But it was his love of soccer that impacted Central Florida the most. Even though he enjoyed soccer as a player, it was as a referee that Sam earned his greatest notoriety. Refereeing local youth and high school games, Sam soon became involved with the North American Soccer League. His refereeing would take him once again to many parts of the United States, first on the field as an assistant referee and then as an assessor.
